LiteScope is contributing to new medical alloys development

In the article recently published in the Materials & Design journal, AFM-in-SEM LiteScope brings a new level of analysis of alloys with potential in orhopaedic and dental applications.

The published study is focused on the preparation of new hybrid layers intended for surface modification of Ti-6Al-4V alloys. LiteScope was used to perform surface analysis of material coatings for examination of their topography and roughness. In the image on the left, you can see an example of sample images taken by LiteScope while examining the morphology of MAO coatings and SEM images of the corresponding region of interest.

The outcome of the performed material analysis is that the hybrid oxide layers newly developed in this study – especially the layers with Zr – resulted in a promising material for coating metallic bone implants. Congratulations to the research group of Roman Gábor from the Nanotechnology Centre of VSB - Technical University of Ostrava, and wishes for more fruitful results in the future!
